WASHINGTON – U.S. Senator Jerry Moran (Kan.) – chairman of the Senate Committee on Veterans’ Affairs – today released the following statement after the U.S. Senate voted to confirm Paul Lawrence as the next Deputy Secretary of Veterans Affairs (VA) with a vote of 51-45.

“Congratulations to Deputy Secretary Lawrence on his confirmation to this critically important role,” said Sen. Moran. “Through our conversations and his past experience at the Veterans Benefits Administration, Mr. Lawrence has demonstrated that he is prepared to help Secretary Collins lead the Department of Veterans Affairs and support the needs of our nation’s veterans and their families. I thank my colleagues for confirming this nomination, and I look forward to working with Deputy Secretary Lawrence and Secretary Collins.”

Sen. Moran led the business meeting of Mr. Lawrence’s nomination, and the committee voted 10-9 to advance his nomination.
