Chairman Moran Votes to Advance Congressman Doug Collins’ Nomination to be VA Secretary
Congressman Collins’ Nomination will now be considered by the full Senate
WASHINGTON – U.S. Senator Jerry Moran (Kan.) – chairman of the Senate Committee on Veterans’ Affairs – today voted to support the nomination of Congressman Doug Collins to be the Secretary of Veterans Affairs. Congressman Collins’ nomination passed the committee by a vote of 18-1 and will now advance to the full Senate.
“Congressman Collins knows firsthand the opportunities and challenges that veterans face and has committed to putting them first,” said Sen. Moran. “During his hearing before the committee, he demonstrated his understanding of the policies he will be expected to administer at the Department of Veterans Affairs and his care and respect for our nation’s heroes. If confirmed, I will hold him to his commitment to work with our committee to implement critical reforms at VA to better support our nation’s veterans and their families. I look forward to bringing his nomination before the full Senate and encourage my colleagues to confirm him as the next Secretary of Veterans Affairs.”
