Kansas Veterans’ Cemetery at Fort Dodge Awarded Grant from National Cemetery Administration for Cemetery Expansion
MANHATTAN, KS – U.S. Senator Jerry Moran (R-Kan.) – ranking member of the Senate Veterans’ Affairs Committee – today applauded a $642,322 grant from the National Cemetery Administration to the state of Kansas to expand the Kansas Veterans’ Cemetery at Fort Dodge. The grant will provide for 160 columbarium niches, landscaping and irrigation.
“The Veterans’ Cemetery at Fort Dodge serves over 6,000 veterans and their families, and I am pleased this new investment will help expand and improve the cemetery,” said Sen. Moran. “It is important we provide Kansans and veterans a place to remember the sacrifices of our veterans and gives our veterans the respect and honor they deserve.”
The Veterans Cemetery Grants Program was started in 1978 and has since provided over $1 billion to state, territorial and tribal cemeteries. Their grants help to establish, expand, improve and maintain more than 122 cemeteries across the country.
