Isakson, Tester Announce Toys for Tots Drive
WASHINGTON – U.S. Senators Johnny Isakson, R-Ga., and Jon Tester, D-Mont., chairman and ranking member of the Senate Committee on Veterans’ Affairs, today announced that the committee will once again sponsor a Senate-wide Toys for Tots drive in honor of the upcoming holidays.
The Senate unanimously passed S.Res.333, introduced by Isakson and Tester, to permit the collection of charitable donations in Senate buildings during the holiday season.
“We are delighted to host the United States Marine Corps Reserve’s Toys for Tots charity drive to help bring holiday cheer to children in Georgia and across the country,” said Isakson. “I encourage my Senate colleagues and their staffs to join Senator Tester and myself in participating in a worthy cause.”
“This is a special opportunity to bring holiday cheer to local children and their families,” said Tester. “It’s an honor to partner with the United States Marine Corps Reserve and Chairman Isakson to help bring gifts to deserving families in our local communities.”
Toys for Tots is an annual program conducted by the United States Marine Corps Reserve to collect toys for needy children. The committee will be accepting donations of new, unwrapped toys in drop-off boxes until Dec. 13, 2017, when Marines will collect the donations. Donation boxes are located in participating Senate offices and outside the committee’s hearing room, 418 Russell Senate Office Building.
