Senate Conferees on Veterans Bill Appointed
WASHINGTON, June 18 – Sen. Bernie Sanders, the Senate Committee on Veterans’ Affairs chairman, today announced members of a Senate-House conference committee on veterans legislation.
In addition to Sanders (I-Vt.), the Senate majority conferees are Sens. John D. Rockefeller IV (D-W.Va.), Patty Murray (D-Wash.), Sherrod Brown (D-Ohio), Jon Tester (D-Mont.), Mark Begich (D-Alaska), Richard Blumenthal (D-Conn.) and Mazie Hirono (D-Hawaii).
“My goal is to get this legislation onto the president's desk as soon as we possibly can,” Sanders said. “Our job is to make certain that every veteran in the country gets quality health care in a timely manner. At a time when 2 million more veterans have come into the VA in the last four years, we must ensure that there are enough doctors, nurses and other health care professionals to meet the needs of veterans in every facility in the country.”
