Sanders Statement on the Death of Lane Evans
BURLINGTON, Vt., Nov. 6 – Senate Veterans’ Affairs Committee Chairman Bernie Sanders (I-Vt.) issued the following statement today on the death of former House Veterans’ Affairs Committee ranking member Lane Evans, who passed away in Moline, Illinois, at the age of 63 after a long battle with Parkinson's disease:
“My condolences go out to the family and friends of Lane Evans. Lane, a colleague of mine during our time in the House of Representatives, was a champion for veterans. Whether it was shining a light on issues of veteran homelessness or advancing legislation to ensure veterans or family members suffering from the impacts of exposure to Agent Orange were properly cared for, Lane was always in the lead. His tireless advocacy on behalf of America’s veterans was just one of the many highlights of a long and distinguished career in the House of Representatives. Veterans, as well as millions of Americans, from across this country have benefitted immensely from his efforts. He will be sorely missed.”
