WASHINGTON, Nov. 19 – The Senate Committee on Veterans’ Affairs today approved and sent to the full Senate nominations for three top posts at the Department of Veterans Affairs.

The panel forwarded President Barack Obama’s nominations of Sloan D. Gibson to be the VA’s deputy secretary.

In addition, the committee recommended Linda S. Schwartz to be assistant secretary for policy and planning and Constance B. Tobias to chair the Board of Veterans’ Appeals.

The nominations by the president are subject to confirmation by the full Senate.
