SENATE COMMITTEE APPROVES NOMINATION OF CHRISTINE HILL TO BE VETERANS AFFAIRS ASSISTANT SECRETARY FOR CONGRESSIONAL AFFAIRS
WASHINGTON, D.C. - Today the Senate Committee on Veterans' Affairs unanimously approved the nomination of Christine Hill to be Assistant Secretary of Veterans Affairs for Congressional and Legislative Affairs. Mrs. Hill, a retired U.S. Air Force Lieutenant Colonel, testified before the Committee on June 26, 2008.
"As Congress and the current administration move towards a close, it is important for VA to have a qualified person serving as liaison with the Senate and House. Christine fills that bill perfectly, and I expect that she will be confirmed by the full Senate very soon." said Senator Daniel K. Akaka, (D-HI), Committee Chairman.
Mrs. Hill is the Acting Assistant Secretary of Veterans Affairs for Congressional and Legislative Affairs, and previously served as Deputy Assistant Secretary for Congressional and Legislative Affairs. Prior to joining VA, Mrs. Hill worked as the Military Legislative Assistant for Senator Elizabeth Dole (R-NC).
Mrs. Hill's nomination now moves to the full Senate for consideration.
