SENATE VETERANS' AFFAIRS COMMITTEE UNANIMOUSLY APPROVES THE NOMINATION OF DR. JAMES PEAKE TO BE SECRETARY OF VETERANS AFFAIRS

WASHINGTON, D.C. - Today the Senate Committee on Veterans' Affairs unanimously approved the nomination of Dr. James Peake to be Secretary of Veterans Affairs.  Dr. Peake testified before the Committee on December 5, 2007.

 

"Today the Committee took a major step towards ensuring permanent leadership at VA.  I look forward to prompt Senate action on this important nomination," said Senator Akaka.  Senator Akaka noted that he was gratified by Dr. Peake's cooperation and candor in answering the Committee's questions. 

 

Dr. Peake's nomination now moves to the full Senate for consideration.
